Coloured hair and smoothing treatments can absolutely work together — the question I get most is about timing and which treatment fits best, not whether it's possible at all.
Timing matters more than people expect
If you've recently colored your hair, I usually recommend waiting about two weeks before a smoothing treatment. Freshly colored hair is more porous and reactive, and giving it time to settle protects both your color and how evenly the treatment processes.
Which treatment is gentlest for color
Nanoplastia is usually my first recommendation for color-treated hair — it processes at lower heat and works more gently on hair that's already been chemically processed. Hair botox is a close second, especially for hair that's dry or damaged from lightening.
Does smoothing fade your color?
Done correctly, a smoothing treatment shouldn't strip or fade your color — if anything, the added shine from a properly sealed cuticle often makes color look richer. What does fade color faster is the aftercare that follows any treatment: sulfate shampoos and excess heat are the real culprits, smoothing treatment or not.
If you color your hair regularly, mention that at your consultation — it changes which treatment I'll recommend, not whether you're a candidate.
