This is one of the most common questions I get from clients with curly or wavy hair, and it usually comes with a little bit of fear behind it: "If I do this, am I going to lose my curls forever?"

Short answer: no — not unless you want to. The treatment you choose determines the outcome, and not every option is designed to eliminate texture.

Not every treatment is a straightening treatment

Japanese straightening is permanent and designed for maximum straightness — that one genuinely changes your curl pattern for good. But hair botox and nanoplastia work differently: they smooth the cuticle and reduce frizz while allowing your natural wave or curl pattern to still show through. Think less "pin-straight" and more "your curls, but calmer and more defined."

What actually changes

What most curly and wavy clients want isn't straight hair — it's less frizz, more definition, and less time spent fighting humidity every morning. A gentler treatment like nanoplastia or hair botox delivers exactly that: your curl pattern relaxes slightly and softens, frizz drops dramatically, but the wave or curl is still there.

The consultation decides this, not the treatment name

This is exactly why I don't let clients pick a treatment off a list without talking first. If keeping your natural texture matters to you, I'll steer you toward nanoplastia or hair botox and explain exactly how much "relaxing" to expect before we start — not after.

If you've been putting off a treatment because you're scared of losing your curls, that's a conversation worth having, not a reason to skip it.
