A great treatment can start fading in the first week if the aftercare isn't right. Here's exactly what to do — and avoid — in the first 72 hours.
Don't wash it (yet)
Most smoothing treatments need 48–72 hours before the first wash, so the treatment can fully set. Washing too early is the single biggest reason results don't last as long as they should.
Skip the ponytail, clips, and tucking behind your ears
Any crease, bend, or kink in those first few days can set into the hair. Keep it loose and straight — no hair ties, no headbands, no sleeping with it pinned up.
Avoid humidity and sweat
Steamy showers, workouts, and humid weather can all interfere with the setting process. If you can, plan a lower-key few days right after your appointment.
Use the products you're sent home with
Sulfate-free shampoo isn't optional — regular shampoo strips the treatment faster than almost anything else. I'll walk you through exactly what to use before you leave the studio.
